Ontario Tech University - 2026 Undergraduate Research Awards Project Submission Form

Ontario Tech University - 2026 Undergraduate Research Awards Project Submission Form

Undergraduate Research Awards (Ontario Tech STAR, the NSERC USRA, the CIHR USRA and the SSHRC USRA) provide opportunities for undergraduate students to conduct research for a period of 14 or 16 weeks during the summer months, beginning May 4, 2026. In order for undergraduate students to apply for a 2026 URA, students need to know which faculty members are interested in supervising a student and the projects they could potentially work on. A reminder that the minimum funding requirement is posted annually on our website - for 2026, this is a minimum of $5,200 (you may contribute more if you wish).

To supervise a student supported by a 2026 URA, eligible faculty must complete the Project Submission Form no later than Monday, October 27 at 3 p.m. for the initial launch to students. Projects will continue to be accepted on a rolling basis until November 14 at 3 p.m. Each faculty member may only submit one project summary to the 2026 URA program per award area. Late submissions may be accepted - please contact studentresearch@ontariotechu.ca to confirm.

The project description provided will be posted on the Office of Research Services (ORS) website for student viewing. Please use descriptive language, suitable for an undergraduate student. Please introduce acronyms before using them in the text.

Please direct any questions to the URA Program Coordinator, Kaitlynn Gambier - Administrative Assistant, Office of Research Services at studentresearch@ontariotechu.ca.
