Ontario Tech University recognizes the impact of evolving trade and economic policies, including shifts in tariff structures, that will be felt by workers and families not only in Oshawa, but across the whole of the auto industry in Canada. In support, Ontario Tech University is proud to announce the creation of three new bursaries specifically for prospective students who are children of workers in the auto industry. There will be three awards, each valued at $3,000. The successful candidates will have the award placed directly on to their student account in the fall term. If a students fall tuition fees are paid in full at time of awarding, the award will remain on the students account to off-set the winter term fees. These bursaries aim to recognize not only the vital contributions of auto industry workers to the Canadian economy, but also to the pivotal role those families and the sector have played in shaping the establishment and growth of Ontario Tech University. As a proud member of the Oshawa community, the automotive manufacturing capital of Canada, Ontario Tech University is deeply committed to fostering community growth and strengthening the connections between education, innovation, and industry. As part of Ontario Tech’s ongoing efforts to address the challenges facing the automotive sector, the new scholarship program aims to alleviate some of the financial burdens on families while encouraging the pursuit of post-secondary education in fields critical to the region's future economic development. Eligibility Requirements: • registered full-time in the upcoming 2025/2026 academic year • awarded to children of individuals employed in the auto industry, with preference given to those pursuing studies in engineering, computer science, and related fields • Limited to domestic students (Canadian citizens, permanent residents or protected persons). • This award is open to all years of study • Combined with financial need, candidates will also be assessed on merit (minimum 2.5 CGPA for current OT students and a 75% graduating high school average). Please note, students that have not submitted an OSAP application or completed the fall 2025 tuition bursary by the October 2, 2025 deadline will not be considered for this scholarship.
