The Trent/Fleming School of Nursing (TFSON) emphasizes a holistic approach to healthcare. Graduates of our programs are well-known in the industry as critical thinkers whose compassion and scientific knowledge are rooted in the values of professional and social responsibility.

Our programs span a variety of nursing contexts. Starting in first year, theory and practice occur simultaneously, and skills are developed through lectures, seminars, case studies, simulation labs, online coursework, and clinical practice. By the final year of study, students will have had the opportunity to practice nursing in a range of hospital and community settings.

Accreditation
The Trent/Fleming School of Nursing Baccalaureate Nursing Programs (Collaborative, Compressed, and Post-Bridge PN to BScN Pathway) are approved by the College of Nurses of Ontario. Graduates from these programs are eligible to apply for registration as a Registered Nurse in Ontario.

All TFSON Baccalaureate Nursing Programs also accredited by the Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing.

Trent University's Consecutive Bachelor of Education program is a highly collaborative, hands-on program that pays particular attention to the individual learner, in small class settings with a community-based approach. Working closely with Trent University’s Faculty of Arts and Science, the First People’s House of Learning, and educators in the wider community, teacher candidates leave the program with a mindset to make education a transformative experience.

Through their university credits in foundational and curriculum courses, students are exposed to recent advances in theory and research. During their classroom placements they are encouraged to use this expertise to think critically about their own professional practice and to develop a professional identity through attention to individual needs, multiple modes of learning, human diversity, and critical thinking in content areas.
